Kilauea Volcano Adventure Hawaii Forest and Trail

Kilauea Volcano Adventure Hawaii Forest and Trail

On the Kilauea Volcano Adventure in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park you’ll see a splendid native rainforest, visit a lava tube, discover remarkable volcanic formations, and experience a diverse change in geography and climate.   Through detailed geologic and natural history interpretation, small walks, and driving, you’ll explore and learn about the world’s most active volcano.  A picnic lunch is served en route and depending on what the current volcanic activity is you’ll make a trip down the Chain of Craters road in the park or leave the park early to head down to Kalapana, searching for some current lava flow.

The geologic creation of the Hawaiian island chain, a timeless battle between the elemental forces of fire and water, is one of the world’s greatest natural history stories. There’s not a better place on earth to witness and understand the awesome nature of volcanoes than at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. There is no better way to explore the park than in the company of one of our Interpretive Naturalists. We’ll show you the “must see” places within the Park while you learn about their geological and historic significance. Join us on a journey that Frommer’s Guide to Hawaii says “. . . May very well be the highlight of your vacation.” Recipient of the 2002 “Keep It Hawaii” Merit Award.

The Park: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is an inspiring and precious place. It is listed as both a World Heritage Site and an International Biosphere preserve.

WOW - 3/9/2008
Reviewer : Erik from Connecticut
Total Rating : 10
I've never heard "wow" as much as I did on this tour, from everyone in our group. The tour itself was terrific, and our tour guide, Matt, was able to provide the perfect mix of information and personable chat to keep everything both informative and fun. We learned, we laughed, we all experienced something profound and even spiritual (and this is coming from everyone in the group, which ranged from artists to buisiness people, young and not so young). I highly recommend this tour, and request Matt if possible, as he made it that much more enjoyable an experience. The only thing to be aware of beforehand is that #1. you may not get to see lava flow, that depends on what the current volcano activity is, and #2 Saddle Road is VERY bumpy, so if you're prone to motion sickness, prepare for this leg of the tour (right after the continental breakfast).
