USS Arizona-Keehi Lagoon-Honolulu City Duck Tour
This tour will not be available until the beginning of October 2010.
Take a ride on the fabulous Duck! Oahu Duck tours begin with guests boarding onto our mini-bus from major hotels and heading west on Ala Moana Avenue. The bus will drive past downtown Honolulu and head straight for historic Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center, where you'll see historical exhibits and a brief film of the actual bombing. A shuttle boat will then take you out to the USS Arizona Memorial, which stands directly above the ruins of the sunken battleship on which 2,400 servicemen lost their lives on the day of the attack in 1941.
After your return to shore, it's time to take the Duck swimming! You'll board the Duck, your water-tour "bus" which will then drive straight into the water, only to turn into a perfectly effective boat. You'll cruise across Keehi Lagoon before heading back to shore to view some landlocked treasures: Diamond Head, Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. You'll get plenty of photo opportunities at Iolani Palace, the state capitol and other great buildings.

Equipment
|
The DUKW (D-model year 1942, U-amphibian, K-all wheel drive, W-dual rear axles) is boat-like with a hollow airtight body. It was designed to carry 25 soldiers and their equipment, an artillery piece, or 5,000 pounds of general cargo and ammunition. On land, it can go up to 50 miles per hour - fast enough for touring purposes. The United States produced 20,000 DUKWs during World War II, and they first saw use in the invasion of Sicily in 1943. Later, they played an import role in the invasion of Normandy.
