Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks 4 Hour Guided Kayak Tour Excursion
Enjoy a 4 hour Excursion and learn to kayak in Oahu with our trained guide. You will be met by one of our professionally trained kayak guides, when you arrive at Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks Beachside Center. The guide explains the tour logistics and gives paddling instruction to prepare Kailua Sailboards and Kayak’s guests for their Oahu kayaking adventure. The paddlers then walk to Kailua Beach Park where they will begin and end their kayaking tour. Guides assist the guests as they launch their stable sit-on-top kayaks and head towards Popo’ia Island, a protected seabird sanctuary. As your kayaking tour nears the island, you will likely encounter “Honu” or the Hawaiian Green Sea turtle as you pass through their natural feeding grounds.
Once landed on the soft-sandy beach of Popo’ia, grab your camera and head for a 20-25 minute guided eco-hike around this unique bird sanctuary. If you are lucky, you may be able to see a new hatchling Wedge-tailed Shearwater pip its egg! You may also see Rock Crabs, Rainbow Runners and a variety of endemic marine life in and around the hidden tide-pools. Not to worry, as your trained guide will point out our ocean friends. Guests will learn about volcanology, ecology and history of the area as well. A light snack is offered before continuing this exciting Hawaii activity.
The group will then continue onto the tranquil Lanikai Beach. Lanikai means “where the heaven meets the sea”, and is rated one of the top ten beaches in the world. Guests can take photos, walk the beach or go snorkeling with provided equipment. Guests will swim out into shallow waters to look for Hawaiian reef fish and live coral.
After snorkeling, it’s off to the Moku’lua Islands for an unforgettable experience. Paddlers will head out approximately one mile off shore to Moku Nui (North Moku’lua) where they will land on the sandy beach of the protected bird sanctuary. Hungry appetites are rewarded with picnic lunches, including a gourmet deli sandwich, tropical juice, chips and fruit. After lunch, the guide will take everyone on an exploration of the island, including a secret tide pool if conditions allow. Many species of ocean creatures may be seen on this nature walk, including but not limited to, the Green Sea turtles, Wedge-Tailed Shearwaters and Rock crabs. On lucky days Spinner Dolphins, Humpback Whales or even the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal are also spotted! If time permits, there may be a second snorkeling session in the underwater lava formations at Moku Nui beach before kayaking back to Kailua Beach Park.
