Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks 6 Hour Guided Kayak Tour Excursion
Experienced kayakers will join our most elite guides who have been hand selected and trained by our director of kayaking – a professional kayaker. Based on the day’s weather conditions, the guests begin their kayaking tour at the Waimanalo Pier. This lays directly across from the protected island of Manana (rabbit island), a preserve for the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. Kayakers are lead on an exploration throughout Waimanalo bay – a dramatic, rarely visited bay with the scenic Koolau Mountain cliffs as the backdrop. This area is full of live coral reef that kayakers can snorkel amongst by sliding off of their kayak into the water. The reef is teeming with a variety of sea life, fish, crevasses, caverns and even a few portions of a fighter plane from WW2.
After snorkeling, the paddlers jump back on board and head out to the Moku’lua Islands for lunch. The gourmet picnic lunch is followed by an exploration of secret tide pools and sanctuaries. This is a good time to be on the look-out for Humpback whales, Spinner Dolphins, Green Sea Turtles, and of course, the elusive Monk Seal. Then kayakers will cruise down-wind along Lanikai Beach for a possible second snorkeling session, and on to Popo’ia Island for an eco-hike before paddling to Kailua Beach Park as the home stretch of the tour. The participants will end their exploration with a ride back to Waikiki hotels arriving before 5:30 PM. A complete lunch, healthy snack, snorkeling equipment, and top of the line kayaks with all the accessories are provided. Guides will select the proper kayak for the participants based on group dynamics.
