Real Sacred ExcursionThe ancient gods of Hawaii deemed specific places in the islands to be sacred. These include such areas as the dwelling places of their gods and their disciples, petroglyphs, selected observation points, cliffs, heiau, volcanoes, and many more. These locations are known as wahi pana or the sacred places of Hawaii. View the Ko’olau Mountains with caves, the most sacred of all burial sites. Visit ancient fishponds, Heiaus petroglyphs, and the Royal Birthing Stones.
On this very popular excursion, guests will visit several of the most ancient and sacred spots in Hawaii. As an added bonus to this excursion guests may actually do a mini “circle island” tour (weather permitting), as they will be taken almost completely around the island in this tour. The Polynesian guide will explain – both as a native, and as a teacher – each of these sites and what makes them so sacred to the Hawaiians.
Guests will be driven to each site in our passenger van. There is some walking although this is primarily a visitation tour and walking is minimal. All sites are considered sacred to Hawaiians, guests should be cautioned not to remove structures of displace any items at the sites. If Hawaiian ceremonial activities are taking place, guests are asked to be respectful, being sure to speak quietly and control and children who may be with them.
Water and a stop for a plate lunch or fresh fruit are included on this excursion.
