Located inside a protected National Marine Humpback Whale Sanctuary is the Big Island's newest harbor – Kawaihae Harbor South. From here, you'll depart and cruise along the scenic shore, keeping an eye out for whales.

The Kohala Coast is one of the best places in the Hawaiian Islands for whale watching. This coastline records one of the largest numbers of humpback whales in Hawaii. The Lavakai II is equipped with hydrophones so you can listen to the whales communicating with each other.

The vessel is equipped with an on-board restroom, six speakers for listening to whales via hydrophones and covered cushioned front facing seating with back rests. There is also ample storage under each seat. She is powered by twin Honda 250 motors.
