KapohoKine Adventures - Zippin' Volcano (from Hilo)
This is a fun tour that combines a zipline tour with a volcano adventure! Your adventures starts at the zipline check-in location at the KapohoKine Adventures store in Hilo. Covering almost 2 miles of tropical river gorges, this 8-line zipline course is fun for the whole family. You'll get to see several waterfalls while soaring over 160 feet above them. Your certified tour guide will guide you over one of the longest ziplines on the Big Island at more than 2,400 feet in length, as well as the only side-by-side dual-track zipline.
After your zipline tour, you'll head out to explore the island. Enjoy the scenic views along the 4 mile Onomea Scenic Route for some of the best tropical scenery in Hawaii. You'll see beautiful waterfalls, springs, streams and tropical gardens. Next up is Akaka Falls State Park, home to the largest accessible waterfall on the island. Walk along a paved path right the the middle of a lush rainforest to Akaka Falls, a gorgeous 442-foot cascade that plunges down a sheer cliff.
Continuing on, you'll head back down the Hamakua Coast and stop at Rainbow Falls, another beautiful waterfall. This 80-foot twin waterfall is known for its rainbow effect when the sun shines at a certain angle. Then explore Kaumana Caves, which are part of the lava tube system that brought lava 1.5 miles from Hilo town in 1881. Take a peak into the cathedral-like space.
The tour then continues to the famous Volcano Winery where you can sample eight different types of wines, all with a unique Hawaiian touch. They also have estate grown teas to taste. Soft drinks and water are included as well. Then enjoy a delicious Hawaiian-style BBQ lunch with a complimentary glass of your choice of Volcano Winery wine or other beverage. Complete your day viewing the glow of the current volcanic activity if it's available from a safe distance before returning.
