Waikiki Dive Center - PADI Open Water Course

This Oahu Scuba Diving tour is currently unavailable for booking on our site. Please visit our Oahu Scuba Diving Tour page for other available options.

Looking to become a certified scuba diver? The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular scuba certification course in the world. As a PADI Open Water Diver, you will be a certified entry-level diver able to rent dive gear and dive anywhere in the world.

The Waikiki Dive Center is the only full-service dive center in Waikiki. It is also a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center, offering certification courses, such as the PADI Open Water Diver course.

Learning to scuba dive requires both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The PADI Open Water Diver online course provides the scuba diving knowledge portion. After finishing the online course, the water training sessions are done with a PADI Instructor.

How it works: The PADI eLearning® system presents you with videos, graphics and reading material. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and you can move through the program at your own pace. The online course will be available for one year from the time of course registration and takes about 12-15 hours in total to complete. After finishing the online course, you can print out your eRecord and bring a copy of it to the Waikiki Dive Center. You’ll then first take a short eLearning Quick Review to confirm your understanding of safety-related material from the online course before heading out on the dive boat.

The PADI Open Water Diver course at the Waikiki Dive Center is a two to three day course. It includes one beach dive and two trips on a dive boat. The online portion of the PADI Open Water Diver course is NOT included. You must purchase and complete this portion prior to your trip.
