Nestled in the Kohala Mountains at 3,200 feet above sea level, the historic Kahua Ranch invites you to a memorable sunset dinner under the stars. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a family member by an open campfire and learn about the history of this 8,500 acre working cattle ranch. Then you're off to a mouthwatering smokehouse BBQ beef & chicken dinner buffet with all the fixin's, including macadamia nut pie for dessert. There's also an open bar with Kona Brewery beer, red and white wine and a variety of non-alcoholic beverages.

After dinner, participate in several traditional paniolo (cowboy) activities: learn how to rope, pitch horseshoes, line dance, sing along while roasting marshmallows by the campfire, and brand a shingle to take home with you. You can even do some stargazing through a powerful deluxe 8" Celestron telescope and enjoy the jewels of the Hawaiian night sky (weather permitting).

Roundtrip transportation from Kona side hotels is available as an add-on:
Transportation is available for guests staying as far south as the Sheraton. There are 6 pick-up locations between the Sheraton and King Kamehaha Hotel. There are also pick-up locations in the Waikoloa area (usually at the Marriott, Hilton, Paniolo, and Kings Shops). The exact pick-up time and location will be emailed with your confirmation. Summer pick-up times begin around 4:00 pm. Winter pick-up times begin around 3:30 pm.

Driving Directions:
Highway 19 NORTH to Waimea - Before reaching the town you come to a fork. Make LEFT onto Rt 250. HPA School is on the right. Climb to 11 MM and slow down. Go to 11.6 MM and look for the little white shack with green roof. "K" and black horses are on the shack. Take a RIGHt onto Kahua Ranch. Stay LEFT at every opportunity and go to the end. Park in the graveled area (approx. 1.5 hours from Kona and 45 minutes from Waikoloa).
Highway 190 into Waimea - At the traffic light make a LEFT onto Lindsey Rd (there are 2 gas stations on the corner). Pass the 2 churches and Longs drug store on the left. Go over the little bridge and bear RIGHT onto RT 250. Go to 11 MM and slow down. At 11.6 MM you will see a little white shack with a green roof. "K" and black horses are on it. Make a RIGHT onto Kahua Ranch. Stay LEFT at every opportunity and go to the end. Park in the graveled area (approx. 1.5 hours from Kona and 45 minutes from Waikoloa).
