Looking for cheap eats in Kauai?
Look no further…
After a long day of enjoying pristine beaches, sunny weather, and gorgeous hikes in Kauai, there’s nothing like grabbing a good bite to eat. And thankfully, you don’t have to break the bank to do it.
These 5 restaurants offer some of the best cheap eats in Kauai:
Puka Dog
The famous Puka Dog offers one of the most unique hot dog experiences around…in Hawaii or otherwise.
Their buns are a one-of-a-kind take on Hawaiian sweet bread, toasted to perfection. And the slow-roasted dog, either a Polish sausage or veggie dog, is to die for. Add your choice of a garlic lemon secret sauce, Hawaiian fruit relish, Hawaiian mustard, and whatever else your heart desires.
It all adds up to one of the best hot dogs you’ll ever have, at a great price. And don’t forget to wish it down with Puka Dog’s ice-cold, fresh-squeezed lemonade and 15 flavors of shaved ice!
Island Taco
Located in Waimea and Poipu, Island Taco offers simple homemade tacos with a local twist.
Their menu includes local recipes and fresh fish, including Seared Wasabi Ahi, Shrimp, or Mahi Mahi. If you’re not a seafood fan, there’s also Teri Grilled Chicken, Kalua Pork, and plenty of vegetarian options.
You won’t find fresher tacos anywhere else, and the location makes it a perfect quick stop on a daytrip to the breathtaking Waimea Canyon.
Bubba’s Burger
With three locations on Kauai, Bubba’s Burgers is the best place to get a good old-fashioned burger. In business for decades, Bubba is a local staple, with a wicked sense of humor (their slogan is “We Cheat Tourists, Drunks, and Attorneys”).
But it’s really all about the food.
Using fresh grass-fed beef, and with the option for local specials like a Teriyaki Burger, Maui Taro Burger, or Chili Rice, Bubba’s eats are classic American goodness with a Hawaiian spin.
Make sure to try the milkshakes, which receive rave reviews.
Lihue Barbecue Inn
Located in an inconspicuous industrial area, Lihue Barbecue Inn is a true hidden gem.
The Inn is a perfect opportunity to get a big, delicious meal at a reasonable price. You can choose a three-combo plate, with items ranging from chicken katsu, beef stew, teriyaki beef, Korean chicken, and loco moco.
The combinations are endless, and for the amount of food you get for just over $10, the place is a great deal.
Da Crack
Yes, the name is a little ridiculous, but the food will have you sticking around. Da Crack offers up some of the best, cheapest, and most authentic Mexican food you’ll find anywhere.
Tacos, burritos, bowls, there’s everything you could ever want and more, with a huge amount of combinations of meats and additional toppings. The portions are generous, and you can almost always get something for under $10.
If you’re looking for good, cheap Mexican food, look no further than Da Crack.
