Beer lovers will have plenty to love when they visit one of Maui’s breweries.
And even if you aren’t a craft beer aficionado, you may want to check one out. After all, at the end of a long day of snorkeling, ziplining, sightseeing, hiking, or any number of the endless tropical adventures that Maui offers, it’s always nice to cap off the evening with an ice cold beer.
Luckily, Maui’s breweries have you covered.
There are two main breweries on this island, plus plenty of opportunities to imbibe local craft beers, so beer lovers will always be able to satisfy their beer cravings.
Here is the lowdown on Maui’s breweries:
Maui Brewing Co.
Established in 2005, Maui Brewing Co. has spent the last decade building up its reputation for great beers, local ingredients, and environmental sustainability.
Its flagship beers include Bikini Blonde Lager, Big Swell IPA, CoCoNut PorTer, and Mana Wheat. There are several ways to enjoy these beers from the Maui Brewing Company.
The Kihei Brewery is where the beer is made in Kihei, Maui, and you can visit the tasting room every day from 11am to 10pm to get the freshest beer around. Or you can visit their Kahana Brewpub, located in Lahaina, which offers great food and a friendly bar experience, with plenty of events and specials.
Kohola Brewery
Maui’s newest Microbrewery, Kohola Brewery, has already carved out a reputation of excellence in craft beer and service. With 10 diverse brews, ranging from the Lokahi Pilsner to the Lani Lager to the Red Sand Ale, Kohala Brewery offers something for every taste.
When you enter the slick modern interior of the tasting room, you can sense that you’ve entered a place where the craft and art of brewing is respected.
The sheer diversity and quality of the Kohala Brewery’s beers make it a must-visit on your next trip to Maui. The brewery is open daily, M-Thu 12-8pm, Fri-Sat 12-9pm, and Sunday 12-6pm.
Be sure to check for special events, and stop by next time you’re in Lahaina.
Maui Brewer’s Festival
If you’re lucky enough to be in Maui in the month of May, the Maui Brewer’s Festival is not to be missed. Offering tastings from 40 local and national craft breweries – as well as free snacks, live music, competitions, prizes, and all sorts of other fun – the festival is one of Maui’s greatest traditions…at least when it comes to beer.
Taking place at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, the Festival features beers from both the Maui Brewing Co. and the Kohola Brewery, as well as beers from the other islands and beyond. It’s a great way to sample local flavors and participate in the Maui beer-lovers’ culture.
When you’re booking your next flight to Maui, be sure to consider a flight in May to catch the next annual Maui Brewer’s Festival.
