Here are some of the top must-try events happening on Maui in April 2016:
April 3rd -9th: The 150th Year Jubilee of the Royal Order of Kamehameha
This April, visitors to Hawaii will have a chance to see the Royal Order of Kamehameha I hold its 150th annual jubilee.
To mark the special occasion, the island will have a week-long celebration of incredible events and festivities. This event has taken place every year since 1865 when Kamehameha V first established the event to honor Hawaii’s oldest royal organisation.
The event includes documentary film screenings, Hawaii music, local crafts, farm to table goods, and an incredible closing ceremony of offerings and ballroom dancing.
It is currently taking place across three locations in Maui, the Hale Nanea Culture Center in Kahului, the Kamehameha Iki Park in Lahaina, and the Grand Wailea Resort in South Maui.

9th April: The 1st Annual 2016 Shaka Fest
Held at the Maui Tropical Plantation, the 1st Annual 2016 Shaka Fest is a music festival dedicated to highlighting Maui’s local DJs and Hawaiian musicians.
The festival will open at 3pm, and the music will commence at 3:30 pm. Tickets can be bought from the Maui Tropical Plantation, Mr Subs. Lahaina, YNVU Clothing, and 808 All Day.
Tickets cost $35 for adults before the event, and $45 at the door. Kids under 10 get in for free.
16th April: The Western Horse Show
Come and watch a traditional Hawaiian horse show at the Piiholo Ranch on the Saturday 16th April.
The event, which is sponsored by the Maui Horse Show Association, begins at 9am and welcomes spectators to watch competitors and their horses.
The event will be catered by the Maui Gypsy Food Truck.
28th April – 1st May: 1st Annual Maui County Carnival
Experience the first ever Maui County Carnival at the War Memorial Complex at the end of the month.
The four-day event will feature rides, great food, entertainment, special attractions, and plenty of games. This year, the event will feature two rides, never seen before in Maui, the Techno Power and the Safari Train.
Tickets cost $5 on Thursday- Saturday, and $3 on Sunday. Children under 40” get in free.
