How to Re-charge in Hawaii in 2016

A vacation should be a long, relaxing trip somewhere beautiful, which is why you should visit Hawaii in 2016.

In our modern world, we often spend far too long at our desks, or worrying about work or family life. And even after the workday is over, it can be hard to completely switch off.

A vacation to Hawaii is a great place to unwind and really re-charge your batteries.

A visit to Hawaii in 2016 will help you take a deep breath, relax, and discover a new you.

Here are a few great activities to help you rejuvenate and recharge when you visit Hawaii in 2016:

Visit a Yoga Retreat

You don’t have to be a yogi to enjoy a peaceful and spiritual yoga retreat.

While Goa in India may be the spot for most backpackers who are looking to learn more about the practice, Hawaii is the place to come and really get away from it all.

Hawaii has some of the best yoga retreats in the world, including Wanderlust at the Turtle Bay Resort in Oahu, Yoga Oasis on the Big Island, Bikram Yoga Retreats in Kauai, Maui, and the Big Island, as well as the large and organised Kalani Oceanside Retreat on the Big Island.

Get a Massage

Hawaii is world famous for its “lomi” style massage, which means to “rub, press, knead, massage”…and it really does work.

If you have any aches or pains, or just feel stressed from daily life, Hawaii’s magical massage will definitely work those muscles until you feel like brand new again.

There are a number of spas and resorts to choose from in Hawaii. One of the most popular is the Spa Grande at Grand Wailea, which also has a Roman hot tub and Swiss jet shower. Another favorite is The Ritz-Carlton Spa at the Ritz-Carlton in Kapalua.

Visit a Hindu Monastery

Here’s a fun fact for trivia lovers: on the Hawaiian island of Kauai there is a 46-year-old Hindu monastery called Kadavul Hindu Temple.

One of the region’s most important Hindu sites, the temple is open from 9 am everyday until noon. Although it is a private temple, the public is still allowed to attend ceremonies.

If you would like to take part in a ceremony (puja) then you must enter the temple before 10.45am and ensure that you leave at noon. This is a great place to get away from it all and meditate, but please note that no photography is allowed.

Relax with “Awa”

If you have been to Hawaii before you may have already come across “Awa,” a traditional Hawaiian drink made from the kava root.

Hawaiian residents use the drink for therapeutic, spiritual and medicinal purposes. Some people compare the effects of the drink to alcohol, while others say it is just very, very relaxing.

You can find Awa brewed in several health clubs across Hawaii, such as the Diamond Head Cove Health Bar in Honolulu on Oahu island and Pau Hana Kava Cafe in Maui. The root has been used in Hawaiian culture for thousands of years, and has also become popular in other cultures around the world.
