If you’re looking for things to do on New Year’s Eve during your Oahu vacation, you’re in luck. The Hawaiian Islands are overflowing with plenty of parties, activities, and celebrations.
As you might expect, Waikiki and Honolulu have plenty of activities to keep you busy before and after midnight on December 31st, but there are other spots to check out as well.
Here are some of our top picks for Oahu New Year’s Eve activities, 2015-2016:
Oahu Vacation Activities for New Year’s Eve, 2015-2016
- Waikiki – Waikiki naturally has one of the best fireworks shows in Hawaii. The beachfront offers the perfect seating for the show, which takes place over the water. The aerial explosives are fired off from a barge in the harbor, so take your pick of sandy spots along the shore. Fireworks start at 11:55 pm and last for about 10 minutes, taking you into 2016 with a bang.
- Kaka’ako Waterfront Park – Earlier in the evening, stop by Kaka’ako Waterfront Park, located just next to Ala Moana Park. This party, called the Party of the Year, starts early, around 7 pm. The extravaganza will feature live music, DJs, food, games, rides, and entertainment. It’s the perfect lead-up to the fireworks show.
- Navatek New Year’s Eve Cruise – Another great way to celebrate New Year’s Eve is aboard a cruise ship. Navatek’s annual cruise includes complimentary champagne and has a full bar, a buffet, and DJs spinning all evening. The cruise departs at 10:30 pm and returns at 12:45 am.
- Sheraton Waikiki – This year, the Sheraton in Waikiki will be holding a New Year’s Eve Party that is perfect for dancers and clubbers. The party will take place at the Helumoa Pool, the Infinity Edge Pool, and at Rumfire. These party spots offer excellent views of Waikiki’s fireworks, so you won’t miss a thing. VIP packages and bottle service are also available, for those who really want to live it up.
- Turtle Bay – If you happen to be on the North Shore on December 31st, you can join the all-ages Masquerade Ball at Turtle Bay. Doors open at 7 and you’ll be able to dance the night away to Nesian Nine and live DJs until 2 in the morning. The buffet dinner is all-you-can-eat and has limited seating, so reserve your tickets early.
- Moana Surfrider – This resort and spa starts its celebration off with a dinner, which has an early seating and a late seating, at 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm respectively. Prices vary based on which seating you choose. The late seating includes entry into the New Year’s Eve “Hawaiian Inspired” Banyan Gala, held at the Banyan Courtyard from 9 pm until 1 am. VIP tables start at $1,000.
Many of these events require tickets, so if you find an event that interests you, buy yours early.
