KapohoKine Adventures - Cap'n Cook by Land and Sea (from Kona/Kohala)
Departing from Kona, this tour is a unique combination of an island sightseeing tour by land and sea. Heading south along the scenic Kona Coast, you'll first visit Bay View Farm, a working 24 acre coffee farm located on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano, just above beautiful Kealakekua Bay. See how coffee is being grown and learn about all the processes that go into producing the world-famous Kona coffee. You'll also get the chance to sample 100% Kona coffee at a scenic overlook with stunning views of Kealakekua Bay and the Captain Cook Monument, which stands on the only sliver of British land in the United States!
The tour then takes you to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, a 420 acre ancient site that is home to temple platforms, fishponds and remnants of ancient life in Hawaii. Later, enjoy an exciting tour on a high-speed Zodiac-style raft. Explore sea caves and lava tubes along the Kona Coast on the way to Kealakekua Bay. Once you reach the bay, you'll be able to see the Captain Cook Monument up close. Cook is among the most famous British explorers and cartographers of all time. Sailing thousands of previously uncharted miles around the world, he met his tragic end right here on the Big Island.
At Kealakekua Bay, you can do some snorkeling at what is one of the best snorkel and dive sites in all of Hawaii. The bay is a marine preserve that is home to an abundance of marine life and a spectacular coral reef. Swim, snorkel and enjoy a deli-style lunch on board before returning.
