Spend some times off your cruise ship and explore the historic town of Hilo, and some of the most iconic Hilo sights including: Liliuokalani Gardens, Hilo Farmers Market, Rainbow Falls, and Richardson Black Sand Beach.
This guided tour begin with a scenic drive along Banyan Drive. Next, stroll through the grounds of Liliuokalani Gardens, names after Hawaii's last reigning monarch, Queen Liliuokalani. Then, visit the Farmers Market and enjoy scenic and beautiful views of Rainbow Falls and catch of glimpse the of the rainbows that are formed in the mist of the falls. You also get to see the King Kamehameha Statue, Big Island Candies factory, and Richardson Black Sand Beach on this wonderful excursion.
Tour Highlights (*denotes stops made):
- Banyan Drive: This is where gorgeous banyan trees line the street
- Liliuokalani Gardens* : This is a Japanese Garden that spans over 24 acres. It was dedicated in 1917
- Hilo Farmers Market* : Take a peek at locally grown and hand-crafted products
- Rainbow Falls* : Is known in Hawaiian as "Waianuenue," and is an 80 ft waterfall. You can look at the cave beneath the waterfall, which is believed to be the home of Hina, mother of the Hawaiian demigod Maui
- King Kamehameha Statue* : This statue measures 14 feet high and was originally sculpted in 1973 in Vicenza, Italy. It was then dedicated in 1997
- Big Island Candies* : Big Island Candies was established in 1977 and is their only production factory in Hilo where their cookies and other sweets are still homemade.
- Richardson Black Sand Beach* : This is a favorite hangout for Hawaiian green sea turtles and it is likely you will get to see one or more of them relaxing on the beach
