Did you know that Maui golf courses are among the best in the Americas?
With over 17 courses on the island, you can enjoy a golf getaway with plenty of choice for every skill level…and with some of the best scenery in the world.
The only thing that might be difficult is deciding where to go.
With so many Maui golf courses to choose from, we have put together our top 5:
1. Challenge at Manele
Named as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world, the Challenge at Manele is built on acres of natural lava.
This amazing course features stunning scenery that incorporates Maui’s rugged cliffs and blue ocean.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this par-72 championship course has a 5-tee concept that offers varying difficulty levels on its fairways. Most famously, the 12th hole requires a 200-yard tee shot across the Pacific, 150 feet above the ocean surface.
2. The Dunes at Maui Lani
Golf Digest has recently named The Dunes at Maui Lani one of the best kept secrets in American golfing.
Designed by Robin Nelson, the 18-hole course is a challenging links-style golf course. And while it is one of the newest courses on the island, most of golf’s most respected commentators agree it’s one of the world’s “must plays.”
With an excellent 4-star restaurant on the grounds, grass tees, fairway, green-side bunkers and a pitching and putting green the course has every facility for every type of golfer.
3. Experience at Koele
On top of Lanai, above Lanai City, Experience at Koele is a cozy, countryside golf resort.
One of the best golf resorts in Hawaii – and the world – the powerful landscape that surrounds this course is something out of a fairy tale. Lush, green highlands and grassy meadows are just some of the sights you will get to enjoy on your way around the course.
The back nine rises to 2,000 feet high, and forest slopes and path climbs definitely make Koele an experience.
4. Plantation Course at Kapalua
If your idea of golfing heaven is to play at a course that the PGA Tour pros have played, then head to the Plantation Course at Kapalua.
With elevation changes on almost every hole, blind tee shots, and areas over deep ravines, this course is anything but straightforward.
Even the par 3s are a challenge here. With some of the most spectacular views on the island, such as the daunting position of the 8th hole over a ravine, this course is not for the fainthearted.
5. Royal Kaanapali Course
The very first golf resort course built in Hawaii, the Royal Kaanapali Course is one of the most historic and impressive courses in Maui.
Built by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course has some stunning ocean views (especially from hole five), as well as impressive panoramic views of the island’s green landscape. The 18th and final hole is one of the most dramatic – with one of the island’s most panoramic views.
