Kalaupapa In & Out Hike
This Maui Inter-Island Tour is currently unavailable for booking on our site. Please visit our Maui Tours page for other available tours.
Discover Kalaupapa on Molokai! Departing from the Lahaina Harbor on Maui, you’ll cruise over to the neighbor island of Molokai aboard the Molokai Princess ferry. On Molokai, your tour guide will take you on a hike to the isolated Kalaupapa Peninsula, a place few people ever get to see. It’s a strenuous hike down to the peninsula. The 2.9-mile trail has 26 switchbacks and a 1,700 foot descent. But nothing can top the view all along the way, which is simply gorgeous. No road leads here, and the only land access to Kalaupapa is via the Kalae trail.
Home to the tallest sea cliffs in the world, the Kalaupapa Peninsula was once an isolated settlement for Hansen’s disease patients. Up until today, a few former patients still live here. The only way that visitors can explore the peninsula is with an authorized tour guide.
