Prince Kuhio Park
The Prince Kuhio Park was named after Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana’ole, a hard working delegate to Congress that fought diligently for native Hawaiian rights. He was much adored and celebrated, as to why his Birthday, March 26, is remembered as a state holiday and brings island-wide cultural events.
He was born in Kukui’ula, along the Poipu Coast in 1871. Being the last royal heir to the Hawaiian throne, Prince Kuhio had this park dedicated to him and the park even contains the foundation of his royal home.
To get to Prince Kuhio Park travel along Highway 50 toward Lawa’i. Turn right on Highway 530 (also known as Koloa Road) and continue until you reach Po’ipu Road and take another right. Once you come to a fork in the road near the ocean take the left fork on Lawa’I Road. You will see the Prince Kuhio Park on your right.
