Black Rock
This famous Black Rock was formed from lava many years ago and separates the Ka’anapali area in half. Hawaiian legend states that the spirits of warriors leapt from the Black Rock to join their ancestors in the afterlife.
Today, many people vacationing in Hawaii love to visit the area because it has a beautiful sandy beach, which is great for families. The snorkeling is excellent because the lava rocks are encrusted with coral and provide a sanctuary for the abundant Hawaiian marine life.
There are lifeguards at this beach, however always use caution when entering the water because the currents can be very strong at times, especially around the rocks. Please note that there are no public restrooms.
