This enchanting half-day Kauai adventure is perfect for kayakers of all ages and abilities. Enjoy a 2-mile downwind paddle on the gentle Hule'ia River through the Hule'ia National Wildlife Refuge, a place for the preservation of endangered Hawaiian water birds. Hule’ia is also known as a filming location for a wide range of major motion pictures, including Jurassic Park, Lost World and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

This adventure also includes a 1.5-mile roundtrip nature walk through a fern-covered valley to a series of 3 pool-drop waterfalls with a swimming hole known as Hidden Falls. Along the way you’ll also enjoy views of the magnificent Haupu Mountain Range, a dramatic and majestic 2000-foot shield volcano that looms over the river. The area is steeped in legend, and your tour guide will tell you exciting stories about the supernatural inhabitants of the valley in days gone by.

Finish your adventure with a relaxing ride back on a motorized canoe through this treasured area, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This tour is easy-going fun and excitement for everyone without a whole lot of work.

    Important Notice – Wailua River State Park Entry Fee: The state of Hawaii is charging a $10 fee per car to park and a $5 fee per person (age 4 and up) for entrance to Wailua Marina (which is part of Waila River State Park). Tour participants are responsible for these fees, which are collected directly by the state via credit card only at the park entrance (no cash accepted). After parking, walk to the marina to meet your guide by the white Outfitters Kauai van and trailer.

    Participants must be able to walk 1.5 miles on a good forest trail and paddle a tandem kayak together with a partner for 60-90 minutes.
    No riders weighing over 260 lbs (118 kg).

    Outfitters Kauai uses tandem, open-cockpit, or sit-on-top style self-bailing kayaks with foot pedal controlled rudders to facilitate safety and ease of operation. You'll be given a lightweight fiberglass paddle with a tether, life vest and dry bag to keep your camera dry on your excursion.
