The Bellstone in Maui
This large volcanic rock is located along Highway 340 just outside of Kapalua. Making unusual sounds if hit in the right spot, there are several Bellstones found throughout the Hawaiian Islands. This particular Bellstone seems very out of place, sitting right off the highway.
Legend has it that these Bellstones were strategically placed to accommodate for the unusual sounds they make. It seems this volcanic rock may have found its own way here, unless we are mistaken and haven’t heard the legend stating the little leprechaun-like Menehune hauled it from Oahu and placed it here in one night.
To get to this Bellstone take Highway 340 out of Kapalua and you will see the Maui Bellstone at Mile Marker #16 on your right.
