Oneuli Beach
This isn’t the typical beach that comes to mind when you think of Hawaii beaches. It doesn’t have the fine white sand that many Hawaii beaches have. This beach has dark sand mixed with rocks and can get extremely hot when walking on it.
The name, “Oneuli”, literally means dark sand. This beach is interesting in its own right. The dark sand is actually cinder from volcanic eruptions. Oneuli Beach is unique and has several hiking trails, one leading to the top of a cindercone.
This beach doesn’t have lifeguards or facilities, but the snorkeling and swimming are great. As always, be cautious and be extremely aware of the currents when surf is high
