Fort DeRussy

Fort DeRussy which is located in Waikiki, was an Army reservation built to protect Honolulu and Pearl Harbor when Hawaii was a United States territory. In the beginning 2 cannons were located  within this Fort DeRussy. As time went by, the 2 canons were replaced with anti aircraft guns. Fort DeRussy was officially disbanded on June 28, 1950. The anti aircraft guns of Fort DeRussy were used for scrap and Fort DeRussy was designated as an Recreation Area which is now Fort DeRussy Park. Today this large, beautiful park which is located in Waikiki pays tribute to the United States Armed Services.

Next to Fort DeRussy Park is the Hale Koa Hotel which opened in 1976 and is available only to active and retired military service personnel. One of the battery locations from the original Fort has been turned into the US Army Museum and is inside the Fort DeRussy Park. Many Oahu activities and tours such as Hawaii Duck Tours and Pearl Harbor Tours pickup from the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki.

The Hale Koa Hotel is an oasis fronting the beach in Waikiki. The Hale Koa Hotel offers an array of both dining experiences and is a perfect location for Oahu Tours. The Hale Koa also offers entertainment opportunities beyond just "fun in the sun" such as lying on the beach. The Hale Koa Hotel is an excellent blend of  service and affordable prices makes the Hale Koa Hotel a great value for your next Hawaii vacation experience.

Parking is located in a public parking lot and admission to the Fort DeRussy Park is free. Directions to Fort DeRussy in Hawaii is simple. Just take H1 east. H1 will become Kalanianaole Highway then continue straight onto Kalanianaole and the cliffs begin after Hanauma Bay. Fort DeRussy is in Waikiki and close to Hanauma Bay, which is known for snorkeling and diving in Hawaii.
