Over packing is one of those things that we are all guilty of. We’ve all packed something for at trip that we had no intention of wearing, or brought something that doesn't really fit with the destination. We want to make sure your bag is light and easy to manage when you arrive, leaving room for any souvenirs and new clothing you need to take home from your vacation. Sunscreen
This might be a bit misleading, so let’s talk about this one. You WILL need sunscreen while you’re here, but you can buy it anywhere, especially along busy areas like Waikiki Beach. If you have a special type that you have to use, perhaps a subscription, by all means bring that. But if you use a regular sunscreen that is sold anywhere, you can buy it once you arrive. It’ll save some room in your bag.
Towels
Towels take up a ton of room and your hotel will have plenty to use. You can always head to an ABC Store and grab a cheap towel to use during your stay, and then just leave it when you head home.
Heavy Jackets
Unless you are traveling in the dead of winter, there is no need for this once you arrive. A light jacket is in order for a trip to the volcano, the summit of Haleakala, or any outing in the early morning hours at sea, but other than that, enjoy wearing short sleeves year round.
Shoes
You will need shoes while you’re here, but formal dress shoes and multiple pairs for style are not really needed. You will likely be in sandals or flip flops during your entire visit, and if you need shoes for running or working out, you will be able to get by with just a couple of pairs of shoes.
