Come aboard the Hoku Nui, a
spacious 50-foot luxury sailing catamaran, and enjoy a short sail out to
Manta Village, located just offshore from the Outrigger Kona Resort.
This second tour with a later departure means darker skies, fewer
vessels at Manta Village, and a quieter, more intimate encounter with
some of the Kona Coast's 450+ identified resident reef manta
rays.
Once you reach Manta Village, the friendly
staff on board will provide a knowledgeable and professional briefing on
the manta rays and then help you get onto our state-of-the-art "manta
flotation device." This is a float that rests on the water's surface
that you can hold onto. Watch the mantas feed on the microscopic
plankton that rises from the bottom of the ocean at night and is
attracted to the light source attached to the
float.
As your incredible snorkel
experience comes to an end, the staff will guide you back on board for
some light snacks and a warm cup of hot cocoa. This manta ray snorkel
will surely be one of the highlights of your vacation and maybe even one
of the most memorable things you do in your
lifetime.
