Roberts Hawaii Shore Excursions - Kauai Waterfall, Plantation and Train Ride
This tour is only available for cruise ship passengers. The dates provided line up with Pride of America's schedule.
Discover Kauai’s ancient and recent past, as well as some significant archaeological sites and sacred treasures. Your island adventure begins with a visit to Opaeka'a Falls, an 80-foot tiered waterfall surrounded by lush vegetation. Opaeka'a means "rolling shrimp" and indeed the waterfall was named after the delicious crustaceans that were once abundant in its stream and pool.
The tour continues with a visit to Poli'ahu Heiau, a sacred and royal temple of worship that was in full use when Captain James Cook visited Kauai in 1778. We'll then be stopping at the historic Kilohana Plantation, where you'll enjoy a 40-minute fun and informative conductor-narrated train ride through 105 acres of the plantation. Along the way you'll see many fruit tree orchards, sugarcane, pineapple, banana, papaya and numerous other exotic fruit and indigenous trees.
The train will stop for you to feed a herd of wild pigs, goats and sheep. Then explore Kauai’s largest sugar estate mansion, built in 1935, where you can shop the beautiful and unique shops while also touring the historic manor home and grounds.
Tour Highlights:
- Opaeka'a Falls Lookout - 80-foot tiered waterfall
- Poli'ahu Heiau - legend tells us that this temple was built by the menehune, the legendary little people of Hawaii
