How to Choose a Luau?

Before I came to Hawaii, one of the activities that I heard everyone talking about was a luau.

“You have to go to a luau; they are a Hawaiian tradition!”

“Luaus are so much fun and the food is so good!”

I heard so many comments like this. But, how do you choose which luau to go to? I definitely wasn’t sure and of course I went on Trip Advisor and Yelp to try and figure out which one to go to but I could not decide! There were way too many options!

So, how do you narrow down which luau to go to?

First, I would figure out where the luaus are located. Check and see if they offer transportation. This could save you some money on renting a car or taking an Uber/Lyft. Several luaus offer transportation to and from Waikiki and the roundtrip motorcoach is part of the fun!

Next, look at your schedule that you have planned out and find a day that works best for you and your party. Once you find a day that works best, check out the days that the luaus run.

Furthermore, I would check out the menu! Make sure there is something that you would eat, and if you have children, make sure that there is something for them to eat as well. This is important, be sure to try different foods such as poi. Poi is delicious when you eat it with the Kalua Pork. Some luaus also have Taro rolls, which are made from the taro root.

Once, you have gone through these three steps, you should have a general idea on which luau would be best for your party! Book that luau and have an amazing time!
