If there is anywhere to celebrate the New Year, it’s in Hawaii. The islands turn into a big celebration, and if you are visiting the islands for the holidays, you will have quite a few options to choose from. Throughout the islands, annual celebrations take place where locals and visitors gather to ring in the new year, and 2020 will be no exception.
The biggest celebrations take place along Waikiki Beach on Oahu and on Maui, on famous Front Street in Lahaina. Though each island provides plenty to do and a celebration to enjoy, these are the biggest parties in Hawaii, and bring visitors from to celebrate.
Traffic shuts down in Waikiki, with large crowds gathering for an entire day of fun. Many bars and restaurants on Kalakaua Street, the main street running through Waikiki, offer food and drink specials. The beach is a popular place, so arrive early to claim your spot. As night falls, the street party gets underway and fireworks ring in the new year, the high point of the night kicking off an entire night of music, dancing, and beachside fun.
You might choose to ring in Oahu’s new year in style on a New Year’s Eve Dinner Cruise or at the famous Rock-A-Hula New Year’s Eve Show. Visitors to Maui enjoy the New Year’s Eve Cocktail Cruise along the stunning Maui coastline, taking in views of the island and various fireworks shows during the cruise.
Hotels and resorts have their own celebrations and you can always choose to attend one of those. Local restaurants and bars always have celebrations and are a great place for a party.
