Hawaiian Outrigger Experience - Canoe Tour

Capture the experience of ancient Hawaii as you learn about the Hawaiian culture, chants, myths and legends as you actively participate in hoe wa'a (canoe paddling).

Hawaiian Outrigger Experience offers 4 fun Hawaiian outrigger canoe tours right on Wailea Beach in beautiful South Maui. This is more than just a canoe tour – it is a complete cultural experience. Learn about the art and sport of canoe paddling, as well as the non-navigational techniques used by Polynesian voyagers who sailed the Polynesian Triangle (New Zealand to Rapa Nui to Hawaii) using celestial navigation/wayfinding.

Relive a part of Hawaiian history as your tour guide shares with you ancient myths, legends and historical facts. Participate in traditional Hawaiian chants as you paddle the canoe along the south shore of Maui, enjoying the breathtaking views of Mt. Haleakala, the West Maui Mountains and the islands of Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokini along the way.

Paddle to Turtle Town off Wailea Point and see the honu (green sea turtles) that frequent this area. You can swim with the turtles if you would like or watch them swim alongside the canoe. Other marine life you may see include eagle rays, dolphins, whales (seasonal) and colorful tropical fish.

Cultural & Turtle Tour: 7:00 am, 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am (1 hour tour)
